When I cheat on my favorite beauty products, there are consequences: frizzy hair, raccoon eyes, oily t-zones, what have you. For the past several months, I’ve been unfaithful to my beloved NARS Orgasm Blush. Oh, sure, I kept it in the family: instead of Orgasm, I had a little quality time with its sibling blushes Deep Throat and Amour (a duo that was part of the limited-edition Edie collection and which has been languishing in my beauty closet for months just begging to be used).
The differences between Orgasm, Deep Throat and Amour are miniscule. Let’s see what Sephora has to say about it: Amour is a “peachy pink.” Orgasm, meanwhile, is a “peachy pink with shimmer.” Deep Throat? “Peach with shimmer.”

Well, that clears up any confusion!
While the colors both look and sound nearly identical, they actually do look different when applied. Deep Throat was a bit too light, too bright, too “you’re wearing blush.” Amour barely saw any use at all: when I had it on, it overwhelmed my pale complexion, making me feel like an extra in a Robert Palmer music video (minus the slicked back hair, pouty red lips, and femme-bot body, obvs.) I stuck with the duo for a while out of sheer laziness, but it never felt quite right.
Yesterday, while cleaning out my closet, I discovered the dregs of an old Orgasm palette. It was crumbly, broken, its better days behind it. Just for shits and giggles, I pulled out my blush brush, swirled it around to pick up the remnants, and then applied it to my cheeks.
And the makeup angels sang.
Not too peachy. Not too pink. Not too shimmery. Just right.
